"Arteriovenous Fistulas: Diagnosis and Management" ed. by Stavropoula I. Tjoumakaris
InTeOpP | 2013 | ISBN: 9535111788 9789535111788 | 209 pages

This book takes complex subject matter and distills it to an easily understood, reproducible and enjoyable experience that will be welcomed by surgeons across subspecialties, including Neurological, Orthopaedic, Vascular, Trauma and General, as well as non-surgeons such as Neurologists and Critical Care Intensivists. Attendings, fellows, residents, medical students or anyone interested in sharpening their diagnostic and therapeutic skill set will benefit from reading this text.

Arteriovenous fistulas are shunts between arteries and veins that can be found in many organs of the human body such as the brain, skin, eye and lung. These lesions can be symptomatic by causing ischemia, through the process of the steal phenomenon, or vascular congestion and subsequent hemorrhage, eg. intracerebral hemorrhage of a ruptured dural arteriovenous fistula. The etiology of these lesions is not fully understood, some are congenital and others are acquired. On the other hand, iatrogenic arteriovenous fistulas, such as in hemodialysis patients, can be a life-saving procedure.
This book provides a clear and concise review of the diagnosis and management of arteriovenous fistulas throughout the human body. It could be a great resource to medical students, residents, fellows, professors and researchers in the field.

Haimovici's Vascular Surgery by Enrico Ascher
English | 2012 | ISBN: 1444330713 | 1342 pages | PDF | 33,4 MB

To improve the diagnosis and management of patients with vascular disease turn to the most authoritative and trusted reference for 36 years and counting . . .
The role of the vascular surgeon has evolved. Vascular surgeons now perform minimally invasive vascular procedures and provide comprehensive care in addition to open surgery.

Haimovici’s Vascular Surgery, now in its 6th edition, has been extensively updated to provide you with:

• Expert perspectives on how the vascular surgery field has evolved so you continue to stay on the leading edge of this dynamic field
• Concise and practical advice about what these changes and new areas of practice mean to you – the practitioner and trainee in the fields of vascular surgery, interventional cardiology and interventional radiology
• Fundamental principles and best practices to treat traditional and new modalities that are now part of the vascular surgeons purview
What’s new in this edition?
• Full-color photographs and illustrations
• Complete coverage of the latest diagnostic imaging modalities, including intravascular ultrasound and computed tomography
• Expanded information on the most effective minimally invasive treatment options, including those for diseases of the carotid artery, lower extremity and abdominal aorta
• Full coverage of non-surgical techniques that vascular surgeons may add to their repertoire.
Time-saving feature exclusive to the 6th edition
To help you identify actionable information quickly, each chapter now highlights the most relevant clinical information. Apply what you learn to your own practice immediately.

Noninvasive Vascular Diagnosis: A Practical Guide to Therapy by Ali F. AbuRahma and John Bergan
English | 2nd edition | December 22, 2006 | ISBN-10: 1846284465 | 587 pages

The book provides the newest definitive text on the current techniques used in assessing vascular disorders. Readers will receive authoritative information and will be guided through the establishment and accreditation of a vascular laboratory and introduced to the physics of diagnostic testing.

The chapters comprehensively explain the use of ultrasound in diagnosing cerebrovascular, renovascular, visceral ischemia and peripheral arterial disease, as well as venous disorders and deep abdominal vascular conditions. The book contains over 300 illustrations, many of them in color. The book will be invaluable to physicians who treat vascular disorders, surgeons, cardiologists, vascular radiologists and the vascular laboratory staff.

Essentials of Vascular Surgery for the General Surgeon by Vivian Gahtan and Michael J. Costanza
English | 2014 | ISBN: 1493913255 | 351 pages

This volume provides a concise and up to date resource that directly addresses the needs of general surgeons who perform vascular surgery by focusing on the diagnosis and clinical management of common vascular conditions. The volume is divided into sections on arterial disease, venous disease, vascular trauma, and vascular access.

Chapters on arterial disease outline the management and surgical techniques for the treatment of acute limb ischemia, compartment syndrome, and diabetic foot infections. Chronic arterial disease is addressed in chapters devoted to the management of claudication, critical limb ischemia, and lower extremity amputation. The section on vascular trauma emphasizes surgical intervention for blood vessel injuries that occur in the neck, abdomen, and extremity. Vascular access chapters deal with the technical aspects and potential complications of temporary venous access catheters and permanent arteriovenous access for hemodialysis. More complex vascular topics are also covered with chapters that are shorter in length and focused on the diagnosis and a broad understanding of treatment options.

Essentials of Vascular Surgery for the General Surgeon is the first of its kind to accurately mirror the SCORE curriculum for vascular disease as a patient care topic in general surgery training, acting as a “one stop” information source that general surgery trainees can turn to as a clinical reference and as a study guide for general surgery in service exams and board.
